YOUTUBE celebrity Hannah Hart, whose show My Drunk Kitchen boasts more than 2.5 million subscribers, has scored a new show that will air on the Food Network.
Hart may not be a household name for mainstream TV audiences, but in YouTube land, she's a virtual star among Millennial viewers.
The premise of her show? Viewers watch her gradual progression from sobriety to slurring drunkenness as she tries to cook dishes like crab cakes, stir fry and frittatas while imbibing, for comedic results.
Since launching her channel in 2011, Hart has amassed a cult following, and the Food Network is hoping to tap into that Millennial audience by giving her a new show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable network has ordered a six-episode food and travel series in which Hart will travel to and dine out in different cities across the US on a limited budget.
The series is expected to go into production this summer and air later this year.
Hart is the latest YouTube star to be given her own show by a major network in the aim of attracting a young Millennial audience.
As The Hollywood Reporter points out, E! gave Hart's friend and fellow YouTube star Grace Helbig her own show, while MTV filmed a docuseries with singer Todrick Hall. — AFP Relaxnews
