Twenty NGOs lodge police reports against rapper Namewee

GEORGE TOWN: Twenty non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today lodged police reports and called for thorough investigation into rapper Namewee's latest video clip that was found to be mocking various religions.
The groups spokesperson Azdi Mohd Arshad said the video clip produced by the artist is trying to provoke the sensitivity of Muslim people in the country.
"It has element of insult and is disrespectful to the Muslims," he told reporters after lodging 10 police reports against the artist at the Northeast district police station today.
Azdi, who is also a chairman of religion bureau in Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Malaysia (GPMS) Penang chapter, urged the police to investigate the matter and take necessary action.
The four-minute long video clip titled Oh My God, starts with "azan" (call for prayer), a church choir and the ringing of Buddhist meditation gongs as well as Hindu temple bells. It was directed and produced by Namewee featuring a Taiwanese band.
Yesterday Northeast district police chief ACP Mio Faridalatrash Wahid said several police report has been lodged and the case has been classified under Section 295 of Penal Code.
