2,400 cases of fire recorded during Ops Musim Perayaan

    KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 2,400 cases of fire were recorded nationwide throughout the Ops Musim Perayaan from June 30 until July 14, an increased of 564 cases for the same period last year.

    Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Wan Mohd Noor Ibrahim said bush fires recorded the highest number with 1,401 cases, while 'others' recorded 738 cases, and building fires 261 cases.

    "Cases of fire involving building had also shown an increase of 47 cases," he told reporters, adding that negligence and short circuit were among factors that led to the upsurge.

    Met during the State Fire and Rescue Department's Aidilfitri celebration, here, last night he said, road accident nationwide, however, showed a decrease with just 119 cases as compared to 212 last year. — Bernama
