Bursa opens higher in early trade

KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened higher in early trade this morning on buying support in selected blue-chips.
At 9.23am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 5.11 points better at 1,658.37 after opening higher at 1,657.18.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing decliners 190 to 123 while 212 counters were unchanged, 1,153 untraded and 19 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 288.27 million shares worth RM102.09 million.
The FBM Emas Index rose 34.51 points to 11,619.62, the FBMT 100 Index gained 34.35 points to 11,318.13 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index perked 32.94 points to 12,231.71.
The FBM 70 advanced 41.66 points to 14,228.11 and the FBM Ace rose 43.74 points to 5,463.94.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index was 41.66 points higher at 14,228.11, the Plantation Index appreciated 18.89 points to 7,581.13 and the Industrial Index increased 7.45 points to 3,102.60.
Among heavyweights, TNB and Maybank each gained two sen to RM14.40 and RM8.04 respectively, while Public Bank was flat at RM19.50.But, IHH Healthcare improved two sen to RM6.56.
Of the active stocks, TH Heavy Engineering bagged half-a-sen for 22.5 sen, and Vivocom gained 1.5 sen to 29 sen, with D.B.E Gurney flat at 4.5 sen as MMAG Holdings declined half-a-sen to 6.5 sen.
The physical price of gold as at 9.30am stood at RM169.43 per gramme, up 91 sen from RM168.52 at 5pm last Friday. — Bernama
