PM holds bilateral meetings with four leaders on sidelines of WIEF

JAKARTA: Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today held bilateral meetings with leaders from four countries on the sidelines of the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum here.

The Prime Minister spent about an hour on the meetings beginning with Tajikistan President Emomalii Rahmon, Guinea President Prof Alpha Conde, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Shriyan Wickremesinghe and Jordan Deputy Prime Minister Dr Jawad Al Anani.

Earlier, Najib and the leaders to the WIEF and their delegations had attended a lunch hosted by Indonesian Deputy President Jusuf Kalla.

Najib is scheduled to attend a dinner tonight in conjunction with the forum which will be hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
The three-day 12th WIEF kicked off today at the Jakarta Convention Centre here with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak as the patron delivering the keynote address after the opening ceremony.

Some 2,500 delegates from more than 10 countries are attending the forum which was opened by Joko Widodo.
Indonesia is hosting the WIEF for the second time after the first in 2009. The earlier editions were held in Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Kuwait, Pakistan, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Themed, "Decentralising Growth, Empowering Business", the 12th WIEF will provide a platform for participants to pool their ideas, especially on ways to implement innovative partnerships and provide opportunities for future cooperation in various sectors. — Bernama
