Wah Seong’s Indonesian unit secures RM167m subcontract

    PETALING JAYA: Wah Seong Corp Bhd’s (WSC) indirect subsidiary PT Wasco Engineering Indonesia has clinched a subcontract worth RM166.7 million from Schneider Electric France SAS (SEF) to design and build seven prefabricated area sub-stations for a project in Kazakhstan.
    In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the oil and gas services provider said the scope of the subcontract work involves 3D modelling, structural analysis and design, blast wall design and design of all ancillary systems such as lighting, safety, fire and gas detection.
    The subcontract also includes the provision of all necessary manufacturing drawings and full procurement of all items within its design scope and subsequently fully responsible for all aspects of the construction phase including installation and integration of all the free issue equipment, WSC added.
    It said the activity is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2016 and be completed by Dec 31, 2018.
    WSC said it expects the subcontract to contribute positively to the group’s earnings over the subcontract period, noting that the subcontract is project specific and is not renewable.
    SEF is a French multinational corporation, which specialises in the design, manufacturing and sale of electric equipment and industrial automation systems, and is the world leader in electrical distribution and automation and control systems.
