Happy Birthday Shell

HAVING journeyed with Malaysians as a leading fuel retailer and fuelled the nation’s progress as a trusted partner contributing to the growth of the oil and gas industry over the last 125 years, Shell recently unveiled an art project Celebrating 125 Years, inaugurating its anniversary celebrations. Through the initiative, the fuel retail company aims to continue driving the Malaysian pioneering spirit which it feels is integral to the country’s success.
INSPIRING THROUGH ART
Celebrating 125 Years involves famous artists who include Datuk Lat, Cheeming Boey, Sabek, Yap Hanzhen, Amey Sheikh Ali, Caryn Koh, Thomas Powell and Dmojo. These talented individuals will create 15 murals, each capturing the artists’ own interpretation depicting progress and the Malaysian pioneering spirit.
Some will illustrate Malaysian scenes and landmarks we are familiar with, while others will showcase nature and Malaysian society and lifestyle.
“Each mural will reflect society’s common values, which Shell also embraces as part of its DNA – diversity, unity, respect and inclusiveness. We believe these values unite Malaysians across the country and will propel the nation forward into the next 125 years. Our aim is for these murals to reach out to people, remind us of these common values, and hopefully inspire and enrich our lives,” said Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Azman Ismail (pix).
The murals will be brandished at selected Shell stations across the nation with each state sporting at least one mural.
SERIES OF CELEBRATIONS
Besides the art project, Shell also embarked on a three-day charity drive last month. In conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, the company rolled out #Pump123, where RM0.01 was collected for every litre of fuel pumped at Shell stations nationwide, for a period. Monies collected were disbursed to six charitable organisations that care for disadvantaged children throughout Malaysia.
A series of videos called #StationStories will also be released over the next two months, featuring some of Shell’s customers sharing their personal stories and experiences on the brand. The fuel company will also be hosting a gala dinner for its partners and a nationwide “Heritage Trail” treasure hunt in September. More information is available at www.shell.com. my/125years
