IJN cardiac cycling members in national month health convoy

KUALA LUMPUR: Fifteen members of the National Heart Institute (IJN) workforce will cycle more than 1,000km in a health awareness convoy beginning today till Aug 16, in conjunction with National Month.
The IJN Cardiac Cycling members comprising doctors, clinical and non clinical staff were flagged off today by the institute's Foundation chairman Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong.
IJN chief executive officer Datuk Dr Azhari Yakub said the objective of the programme was to mark the country's 59th Independence Day and promote awareness among the public on the importance of being active to reduce the risk of heart disease.
The convoy kicked off and will conclude at the IJN grounds. Along the way, they will stop by at a number of places such as Temerloh, Kuantan, Pekan, Johor Baru, Pontian and Bagan Lalang to present health talks and provide free health screening to the public. — Bernama
