KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in Sabah has arrested three policemen and a civilian for suspected corruption involving a sum of RM2,000.
Sabah MACC director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said two of the policemen were constables and one was a lance corporal, and they were in their late 20s.
They were arrested at the Sabah MACC office just before midnight last night after the MACC received a complaint from a 50-year-old man yesterday evening, he said in a statement.
Shaharom Nizam said the civilian, a 54-year-old man, was arrested at 12.50am today, also at the Sabah MACC office.
He said the complainant had stated that the policemen had asked for RM2,000 to release the former's son-in-law who only had a temporary identification document.
One of the suspects contacted the complainant and asked him to hand over the money at Donggongon town between 4.30pm and 5.30pm yesterday. — Bernama
