Book Review - Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Parts One and Two

I AM a fan of the seven Harry Potter books, and I'm also one of those who would stand in line in the wee hours of the morning at a local bookstore in order to get my hands on a pre-ordered hard cover copy of the latest book.
Suffice to say I got this book almost as soon as it was released, and despite it being the script for a play, it was still an exciting read. In fact, you'll want to catch the play afterward. Sadly, not only is it being staged all the way in London, but it is all sold out until next year.
In Cursed Child, the story revolves around Harry's second child, Albus, with whom Harry has a difficult relationship, especially after the boy ends up in Hogwart's Slytherin house, and befriends Scorpius Malfoy, the sweet earnest son of Harry's former nemesis Draco.
There are signs that the dark forces are regrouping, and Harry, now Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, starts having visions about Voldemort.
When Harry utters something hurtful and shocking in the heat of an argument with Albus, the boy does something rash, which involves time travelling with Scorpius to save Cedric Diggory from being killed at the Triwizards tournament.
Why he does what he does, and how this affects everyone around him, forms the crux of the story.
Some concepts of this story may not be original but it is the way the story is told that will keep you riveted to this book.
The best part is that all the characters we loved in the original books are back, and they contribute greatly to the story.
There are stage instructions included in the book (it is a script after all) that really helps us imagine how great the play is.
With the movie rights already snapped up, this is going to be another money spinner for all concerned.
