KUALA LUMPUR: Shell Malaysia marked another remarkable milestone in Malaysia with the celebration of its 125th anniversary here yesterday evening.
To make this occasion more memorable and sweeter, its chairman Datuk Iain Lo announced that the company would invest RM125 million over the next 10 years to fund Malaysian talent development and competition initiatives.
"We are proud of all we have achieved together in 125 years, but there is a new reality in Malaysia and the world in which we at Shell will continue to play an important role to help Malaysia achieve those goals.
"Together we will power innovation and competitiveness, to fuel Malaysia's future," Lo said in his speech during the anniversary gala dinner.
He said the company will continue working with partners, communities, the government and others to meet Malaysia's growing energy needs.
"Together we can drive breakthroughs and innovations to provide jobs, become more competitive and increase the use of cleaner energy sources," he said.
Lo also pointed out that Shell Malaysia has introduced Shell Live Wire, a programme that enables young Malaysians to start their own businesses and create employment.
About 700 people attended the celebration yesterday.
Among the guests were International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Idris Jala and Shell alumni.
