TMC LIfe Sciences explores setting up dialysis centre in Johor Baru

PETALING JAYA: TMC Life Sciences Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Advance Renal Care (Asia) Pte Ltd (ARCA) to explore collaboration on establishing and/or operating a dialysis centre in Johor Baru.
The MoU was signed yesterday by TMC Life Sciences group CEO Roy Quek and ARCA senior medical advisory partner Dr Gordon Ku.
According to the National Renal Registry Malaysia, the number of patients commencing dialysis per year has doubled in 10 years from 2,112 in 2001 to 4,521 in 2010 (preliminary data). The prevalence of patients on dialysis was 812 per million population in 2010.
The planned dialysis centre is envisioned to be the largest set-up with the most comprehensive renal care services in the country.
