IPOH: The Pokemon Go reality game craze had hit the City of Ipoh with an organised group of 50 people mostly youngsters walking down the streets to capture as many 'species' as they could.
The group armed with handphones gathered at the Birch Memorial Clock Tower at Jalan Datuk Sagor to start the mass eight kilometre walk about 11am.
Organiser Jonna Gough sadi said he uploaded the social media event five days ago and secured 500 clicks.
He added playing the game was not only fun but brought people together including parents and children.
However, he cautioned players to give priority to safety and be cautious of their surroundings as in their bid to capture the species, they can endanger their lives if not careful.
One of the participant, Faizal Mokhtar, 32, a courier service lorry driver said: " Initially I had reservations coming here but later I saw age was not a barrier with mass participation. I wanted to experience what the game is all about."
Michelle Francis, 27, a social media manager said: " It is a craze and trend now but eventually it will fade. The game attracts young people and it diverts them from undesirable activities and crime."
Menesa Chang, 30, a doctor from Teluk Intan said it was a good outing with people of all walks of life and the game was fun where she made some new friends.
Amos Tan, 22, a college student said she was at level 16 with her having captured 69 species so far.
