PUTRAJAYA: As of last May, the 1Malaysia Customer Service of Civil Servants (1Serve) counter service has recorded about 297,667 transactions involving 11 agencies.
The (1Serve) counter service was introduced by the government under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS).
Public Services Department (PSD) NBOS Unit chief Azlina Azman said the 11 agencies, among others, are the National Registration Department and Immigration Department, in efforts to cut down waiting time and provide better service to the people.
"1Serve initiates to expand the delivery system in public service and improve the satisfaction level of customers and frontliners. The transactions result from 10 pilot projects that we have implemented from last year.
"We understand that the volume of people going to Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) is high, thus 1Serve offers basic guidelines to frontliners of government agencies on how to serve customers in a friendly and prudent manner to increase efficiency and effectiveness of public service delivery," she told Bernama at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), here today.
Met at the NBOS Open Day, held in conjunction with the NBOS International Week at PICC, Azlina said the eight methods of 1Serve counters that are applied by the frontliners consist of smiling, listening, showing empathy, applying reverse psychology, understanding customers, delivering hygiene services (speed and efficient), resolving problems and being passionate.
She said based on satisfactory public feedback, three more 1Serve counters would be opened at PSD Putrajaya, UTC Sungai Petani, Kedah and UTC Ipoh, Perak by the end of this year.
"It will fulfill the concept and characteristics underlined in the NBOS, namely high impact, low cost, rapid execution and sustainability," she added.
1Serve is one of NBOS' initiatives to improve the public service delivery system, via the 'one-stop service counter' concept which has placed services related to identity card, passport and payment of summons at one counter. — Bernama
