Moderate air quality at 31 places as at 9am

KUALA LUMPUR: Air quality was not up to the mark today in several places in the country due to the cross-border haze from fires to clear forest land for plantations in Indonesia.
The Air Pollution Index for 31 places was at the moderate level as at 9am, with Seri Manjung in Perak recording an API of 96, according to the website of the Department of Environment.
The DoE also reported API at the moderate level in Kampung Air Putih, Taiping (81) SK Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh (77), Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (69), Port Klang (67) and Jalan Tasek, Ipoh (66).
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said on Tuesday that the air quality was affected by the cross-border haze from fires to clear forests for plantations in Sumatera, Indonesia. — Bernama
