380 Mat Rempit charged in court since 2014 until June this year

ALOR STAR: A total of 380 'Mat Rempit' were charged in court for riding in a reckless and dangerous manner in the state since 2014 and June this year, the Kedah State Assembly was told today.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Aminuddin Omar said most of them were arrested in the districts of Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu.
Nor Saidi Nanyan (BN-Kuah) wanted to know the number of 'Mat Rempit' arrested since the past three years.
To a supplementary question from Nor Saidi on measures taken by the government to address the problem of 'Mat Rempit', Aminuddin said various programmes were planned by the state government with the cooperation of the Youth and Sports Ministry, including Drag Racing.
Three major drag racing events had been carried out so far, at Aman Central, Kulim Hi Tech Park and in Jitra, which also drew participation from Thailand, he added. — Bernama
