KUALA LUMPUR: Delegates attending the International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy (ICBOS) were impressed with the services provided at the Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) after making a visit at the centre in Pudu Sentral, here today.
A delegate from Timor-Leste Prof Dr Faustino Cardoso said the service were very good and met the standards required to be a developed country.
"I think UTC is doing a new paradigm in services provided because people need to settle their requirement in a very quick way and UTC is responding to the situation.
"It could be used as a reference for our country. Our visit today is very inspiring because UTC provides an easy way for people and it is economically and effective at the same time," said the Timor-Leste president of Civil Service Commission to Bernama.
Some 80 ICBOS delegates spent two hours at the centre to see at first hand Malaysia's public services, including the 1Malaysia Clinic, Immigration Department counters and sports centre.
Established along the lines of a one-stop multi service provider, the UTC — the brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak — comes with a complete range of facilities to serve the people better and to prosper them.
Meanwhile a delegate from Myanmar, Htein Lynn commended the services provided which was reflected by the efficiency of the agencies at the UTC, such as applying for international passport, renewing driving licenses or replacing identity card.
He said the operating hours on working days as well as during weekends enabled the people to access public services under one roof outside working hours and looked forward to apply the successful UTC programme in his country.
"The staff at the UTC have done an outstanding job in providing a better public service. I received positive feedback from several visitors here that they managed to settle (their matters) within 30 minutes.
"In Myanmar we do not reach this level yet because it takes one or two days, sometimes one week or months. That is why today we are looking at the procedure and plan to apply it in our country," he added.
The setting up of the UTC is part of the NBOS being introduced to improve the quality of the services through strategic partnerships between government agencies and the private sector. — Bernama
