Cops warn against false reports

KUALA LUMPUR: Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainol Samah today warned that the police will take stern action against anyone who lodge false reports including charging them in court.
The warning comes in the wake of them receiving four false police reports over the last two months.
Zainol said those who lodge false reports are liable to be charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code or be fined RM2,000 or both.
In a press conference held at the Dang Wangi police headquarters, he said, the four false reports were:
* two to evade paying a RM300 fine for lost identification cards
* to escape being reprimanded by his employer for being late to work alleged he was robbed on the way
* to resolve a financial problem saying his family is in trouble.
On a separate issue, Zainol said they arrested two locals, aged 49 and 54 in a 1.30pm operation by Dang Wangi Narcotics criminal investigation team at a parking lot of a luxury condominium in the city and seized 4,6700g of syabu worth RM400,000 on Tuesday.
The suspects who led to the recovery of the drugs in a condominium, he added, confiscated four plastic bags of syabu weighing 3.198g and 16 transparent packets of syabu weighing 1.472g.
He said police also seized a Range Rover reported stolen in Petaling Jaya on June 2014, a fake pistol, two impulse sealer, two digital weighing machine, one smoking tool for syabu, two machetes and a laptop.
He added the suspects have been active for one and a half years and the drugs were meant for local consumption.
The suspects remanded from Aug 16 to 23 are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
