LANGKAWI: More than 900 nursery schools have yet to register with the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry through the Social Welfare Department.
In this regard, Deputy Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said all state Social welfare departments had been directed to hold the "Jom Daftar" awareness campaign targeting operators of the unregistered nursery schools.
She said the state-level campaign would be followed by a similar programme in every district to instil awareness in the operators on the need to register with the ministry.
"Social Welfare Departments nationwide have been directed to hold the first phase of the "Jom Daftar" campaign before September end," she told reporters after launching the second International Social Development Conference here.
She assured that the campaign was not aimed at forcing operators to close down their premises.
"We want to provide them assistance and together with them identify and help to resolve their problems," she said. — Bernama
