Ahmad Zahid outlines three measures for BN electoral victory in Kelantan

JELI: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today winning over the hearts and minds of the people, avoiding back-stabbing and doing away with factions will ensure a Barisan Nasional-Umno victory in Kelantan in the next general election.
"We must endear ourselves to the people so that they favour the leadership. The people love Umno but they hate leaders who give importance to themselves and fail to fulfil the trust," he said.
Ahmad Zahid, who is an Umno vice-president discharging the duties of the Umno deputy president, was launching a 'Leader with the People' session and opening the Jeli Umno Division delegates meeting at the Jeli Dakwah Centre, Pondok Moden, here.
He said leaders at all levels should go down to the ground to meet the people at all times and not do so only with the approach of elections.
Back-stabbing had weakened Kelantan Umno, he said, adding that this happened due to the jealousy of seeing friends become politically successful.
"Discard back-stabbing. It is an old habit. Umno under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak does not condone back-stabbing. Forget the habit," he said.
He also wanted Kelantan Umno leaders and members to refrain from being the 'enemy within', saying this could destroy equality and familiarity among themselves.
Ahmad Zahid also wanted Kelantan Umno leaders and members to avoid forming factions. He said they should trust one another and work as a team.
He said Kelantan Umno should realise that negative attitudes had kept it weak for 26 years since 1990 when PAS took over the administration of the state.
If it could implement all positive principles, Umno and BN would return to power in the state, he said.
Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee chairman and Jeli Umno Division chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed was also present at the event attended by about 8,000 people. — Bernama
