"Stay focused my son, you can win!": Chong Wei's father

GEORGE TOWN: "Play as usual. Focus and do not be too pressured by the surroundings. You can win!". This is the advice Datuk Lee Chong Wei's father gave the world number singles shuttler before he left for the Rio Olympics.
Lee Ah Chai said Chong Wei (pix) is very committed to give his best to the country as this is his last chance to compete in the prestigious Games.
Chong Wei who will be meeting his arch rival Lin Dan of China in the semifinals today, failed to clinch the gold medal in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
Ah Chai who is very experienced in badminton himself, said the fight would be difficult but if observed carefully, Lin Dan was much slower than Chong Wei and Chong Wei should capitalise on this weakness.
"Lin Dan and Chong Wei are both great players. Victory will go to the player who commits less mistakes and I am confident Chong Wei would be able to defeat Lin Dan if he stays focused," he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.
Ah Chai is also confident that if Chong Wei beats Lin Dan tonight, the chance for him to deliver a gold medal at the Rio Olympics will be very bright.
"Chong Wei is not my son alone but he is also a son of Malaysia. I hope Malaysians will support him in the match tonight," he said.
Chong Wei will meet Lin Dan in the men's singles semi-finals at about 7.30pm local time and his father will be watching the live telecast with his wife and friends. — Bernama
