GEORGE TOWN: Talk of Penang Umno gunning for the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership in the state has been laughed off as mere rumours.
State Gerakan vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong said parties within the coalition were "satu hati" (united) working with Penang BN chairman Teng Chang Yeow.
He said all involved were working together and any issues would be solved within the BN framework.
"The opponent is outside, not inside," he told theSun when contacted for comment about the issue.
Teng, when met during the visit to Tasek Gelugor by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak on Sunday to open the Umno Tasek Gelugor delegates meeting. said he did not know of the matter.
"That one I don't know," he said and was coy on what was discussed between Najib and him during the visit.
theSun has contacted Penang Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman on the issue and is awaiting his response.

Teng also did not want to be drawn into discussions on the gag order imposed by Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Keong following recent acrimony over election candidature issues in the state chapter.

"The president has the absolute authority to issue the gag order, he does not have to consult anybody.

"You expect me to condemn my president and get myself suspended, is that what you want to see?" he said when pointed out that Gerakan had previously condemned DAP for issuing gag orders.
