3 friends face seven charges

SHAH ALAM: Three friends faced the Sessions Court and Magistrate's Court here today to answer seven charges including attempted murder during a fight at Pangsapuri Rimba Jaya, Seksyen 16 here, early this month.
K.Rakesh, 25, from Klang, P. Nanda Kumar, 23, Subang Jaya and S. Satiish Kumar, 20, also from Klang claimed trial when the charges were read out to them in Tamil.
Nanda Kumar, a lorry attendant is accused with three others still at large of attempting to murder Muhammad Amirul Irham Mohd, 22, by driving a Proton Saga FLX car over him at the roadside near Blok A of the residence around 4am on Aug 6.
The charge under Section 307 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum 20 years jail, or together with a fine, on conviction.
In the same court, security guard Satiish Kumar is accused of keeping a stolen Yamaha Y125Z motorcycle belonging to Ramli Rahmat, 30.
He allegedly committed the offence at Jalan Seri Mersing 33, Taman Seri Andalas, Klang, about 12.30am on Aug 8, as charged under Section 412 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 20 years' imprisonment and liable to a fine, on conviction.
Judge Rihaida Rafie set RM10,000 as bail with one surety for Nanda Kumar and RM8,000 with two sureties for Satiish Kumar. She also ordered them to report to the police station once a month and against harassing the complainant and witnesses.
Rakesh, a mechanic is accused with an accomplice still at large of robbing a a man of his motorcycle while armed with a machete at the children's playground near the residence around 4am on Aug 6.
The charge under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code read with Section 34 of the same code, carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and liable to a fine or whipping on conviction.
Judge Slamat Yahya set RM10,000 as bail with one surety and ordered him to report to the nearest police station once a week and against harassing the complainant and witnesses.
In the Magistrate's Court, Rakesh was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to Musthafa Harun, 53, by hitting and injuring him with a machete at the parking lot between Blok A and Blok B of the apartment around 3.45am on Aug 6.
The charge under Section 324 of the Penal Code carries a maximum three years jail or a fine or whipping or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.
Rakesh and Satiish Kumar are also accused of three counts of jointly causing mischief and damaging a Ford Telsa car belonging to Nadirah Hamran, 30; a Myvi car belonging to Mohd Zamri Mahmed, 32; and a Proton Wira car belonging to Shahrul Anuar Zamri, 33, at the same apartment between 8am and 11.17pm on Aug 6.
They are charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code read with Section 34 of the same code which carries a minimum one year and maximum five years imprisonment or with fine or with both, upon conviction.
Magistrate Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin set RM6,000 as bail with two sureties for Rakesh and RM4,500 with two sureties for Satiish Kumar. The magistrate also ordered them to report to the nearest police station once a month and against harassing the complainant and witnesses.
All the cases were set for mention on Sept 27.
Prosecuting officer ASP D.R. Ghanthi Nathan appeared for the prosecution while all the accused were represented by counsel Gerard Lazarus and S. Gabriel. — Bernama
