EKVE takes swift remedial action to rectify damage to kindergarten

PETALING JAYA: The East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) have taken remedial action to rectify the earth fissures that occurred at a kindergarten in Bukit Antarabangsa believed to be caused by construction work on the highway.
EKVE Sdn Bhd Senior General Manager Mohd Khalid Mohamed said the highway developer is working closely with the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and other authorities to ensure the safety of the building could be restored as soon as possible.
"We would like to reassure that all necessary remedial action is being undertaken to rectify the issues resulting from the incident and that all safety measures relating to the construction of the project is being reinforced to ensure such an incident is not repeated in the future," Mohd Khalid said in a statement.
The incident on Aug 22 saw earth movements at the slope adjacent to the playground of Q-Dees kindergarten resulting in the fissures.
Fifty one children had to be evacuated and no casualties were reported.
Mohd Khalid said the kindergarten will remain closed until all safety measures and inspections have been conducted.
"While we understand the inconvenience of such a closure, this is being done in the best interest of all.
"In the interim, we stand ready to provide all necessary support to the kindergarten's management in mitigating the disruption due to its closure," he said.
EKVE is a dual-two lane tolled highway between Bandar Sungai Long and Ukay Perdana with a mainline distance of 24.16km and 12.0km of spur roads.
The cost of the EKVE project is RM1.55 billion.
