PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will leave it to the police to take the next course of action if the #TangkapMO1 organisers decide to defy orders and hold the rally in Dataran Merdeka.
Speaking to theSun today, DBKL media relations officer Hassan Azhari Abu Bakar said the area was off limits as it is preparing for the National Day celebration.
"If they (organisers) are still stubborn, then the police will take over and do what's necessary.
"We only have a say in terms of the location. And Dataran Merdeka is off limits as we are preparing it for the celebration. We even have a rehearsal this Saturday there," he said.
He added that they have stated that their application has failed, "and if they still decide to carry on in Dataran Merdeka, then it's an illegal rally".
Rally organiser Anis Syafiqah Md Yusof had, on Tuesday, said they would ignore police advice by having the gathering in its proposed venue in Dataran Merdeka.
"We have informed all the respective parties. We will proceed with Dataran Merdeka," Anis had told theSun when contacted.
