TANJUNG PUTERI: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) will embark on developing a big data software – GPUMLiB – to meet the demands of the creative information industry.
Its deputy vice-chancellor (Development), professor Dr. Azlan Rahman said GPUMLiB is a high speed machine learning technology and big data analytics software.
"Experts will carry out joint research before commercialising the product," he said after the signing of Memorandum of Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding with Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, Portugal, here today.
Azlan hoped the product will be out in the market by next year.
He said science and technology based development is expected to contribute more than one-third of the economic growth and the new and improved technology application could leverage GPU computing to a higher level.
As to the memorandums, he said, it was for the two parties to collaborate in the aspect of student exchange, academic collaboration and joint development of GPUMLiB( Graphic Processing Unit Machine Learning Library).
