Suspect who abandoned newborn baby girl nabbed

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a woman who is believed to be the mother of a newborn baby girl who was found abandoned in front of an apartment unit in Cheras on Monday.
Cheras District Police Chief ACP Chong Kok Sin said the 24-year-old woman was nabbed today at an undisclosed location.
"The woman, together with a 25 year old man who was arrested on Tuesday, have been remanded until Friday to assist in investigations.
It was reported on Tuesday that a newborn baby girl, with her umbilical cord still attached, was found abandoned on the 12th floor of the Putra Suria Residency in Cheras.
Residents found the infant who was wrapped in a grey sweater in front of an apartment unit at about 2.15pm.
A plastic bag containing diapers, a feeding bottle, milk powder, wet tissues and massage oil, was left next to the baby.
Police have sent the baby to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre for further checks and alerted the Welfare Department on the case.
