Indonesian woman asked to lodge complaint with Malaysian consulate in Medan over allegations

JAKARTA: The Malaysian embassy here is urging an Indonesian woman, known as Sri Dewi Sulistina, to make an official complaint over alleged mistreatment by Immigration officers at KLIA2 in Sepang after she was prevented from entering Malaysia without any valid reason.
Ambassador Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim said the woman's allegations, including that she was detained without any reason, were serious and hoped that she lodge a complaint for the case to be investigated.
He said the embassy had contacted Putrajaya for information but was told that so far, there had been no complaint received on the case.
"We won't be able to investigate if there's no official complaint and the woman has only made such claims to the (Indonesian) press," he told Bernama, here.
Zahrain said as the woman was from Medan, she could lodge a complaint with the Malaysian Consulate-General in Medan and he assured that the case would be investigated once the complaint had been received.

Sri Dewi Sulistina, 28, at a press conference yesterday, alleged that she was mistreated while trying to visit Malaysia and was detained by the Malaysian Immigration before being deported without any reason given.
She said on Aug 17, she flew from Kualanamu International Airport, Medan to go to Malaysia and arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) at mindnight (local time).
Sri Dewi said at the Immigration check-point, she was asked to go to its office where an officer named Afifi asked her reason for entering Malaysia, as her passport showed that she had frequently been entering and exiting the country.
She said after she told him that it was for the purpose of holidays and meeting her friends, she was ordered to go to the Immigration office in Jalan Duta where she was told there was no problem.
Sri Dewi said when she returned to the KLIA2 Immigration office, she was detained and placed in a lock-up for two days before being deported to Medan with her passport stamped with 'Not To Land'. — Bernama
