2 youths die in Alor Star-Butterworth Road motorcycle accident

SUNGAI PETANI: Two youths lost their lives in an accident involving two motorcycles at Kilometre 56, Alor Star-Butterworth Road northbound near here, early today.

Kuala Muda District police chief, ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said the dead had been identified as Mohamad Asri Abdullah, 25, who was riding a Kawasaki, and Noor Izzatie Juhari, 24, who was riding pillion on a Modenas Dinamik.

"The incident happened at 4.50am, when Mohamad Asri rammed the rear of the motorcycle which Musfirah Mustafa, 20, was riding with Noor Izzatie.

"He was flung onto the right shoulder of the road while the other two were hurled onto the left," he said in a statement.

He said Mohammad Asri died on the spot due to severe head injuries while Noor Izzatie passed away while being sent to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital.

Musfira sustained head and bodily injuries and is being treated at the same hospital, said Md Zukir. — Bernama
