Pasir Gudang Umno urges Tun M not to criticise 'Bangsa Johor' concept

PASIR GUDANG: Umno Pasir Gudang Division delegates meeting passed a resolution today to urge former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad from criticising the "Bangsa Johor " concept.
"Umno will defend the concept since it has proven that the concept has united all races in the state since 1920,” its division chief, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said in the meeting at Seri Alam.
Khaled said, both the "Bangsa Johor" and "Muafakat Johor" concepts have been used as the basic ideology in the state administration system, and it is applied in all physical and mental development programmes through out state's history.
Umno veteran Tan Sri Shahrir Samad said he was not keen in asking Dr Mahathir to apologise for his statement.
Dr Mahathir’s statement over the "Bangsa Johor" has stirred up the southern state.
President of Johor Coalition of Malay Rights Groups Council (Gabung) Zaini Atan had requested Dr Mahathir to retract his statement made against the "Bangsa Johor" concept yesterday.

Johor BN parties components leaders, including State MCA liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, Johor Unity and Human Resources Committee chairman R. Vidyanathan, Johor Baru Tiong-Hua Association and five main Chinese clan associations, Hakka, Teochew, Hokkien, Cantonese and Fuchou in Johor have expressed their disapproval on Dr Mahathir's statement.
Dr Mahathir claimed that parochialism, such as the "Bangsa Johor" concept would divide Malaysians, and it implies a superior Johor race.
