KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with the National Day, more than 2,000 Form Four students from schools in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will participate in a creative graphic performance and the 2016 National Day parade and procession on Wednesday.
The chief coordinator for the Kuala Lumpur Graphic Group, Nor Adzmi Baba, said the students began their training since early July under the supervision of 30 choreographers and 28 creative graphic instructors. They were aided by 52 teachers (30 from schools in Kuala Lumpur and 22 from Selangor).
"The participants trained four hours a day, beginning from 7am. In previous years, training was carried out at the Bukit Jalil Stadium, but this year, the students were trained at a school field in the Sungai Besi camp," said Nor Adzmi when met after the second day of the parade rehearsal, here today. The rehearsal, held at Dataran Merdeka, began as early as 6.30am and involved 15,000 participants.
He said the students will showcase their creative graphic performance using ply cards, pom-poms, motif designs (kelarai), flags and umbrellas of various colours, and will move to the beat of patriotic songs which would be played during the parade and procession.
"The students will perform several segments, beginning from 7am, to the tune of patriotic songs sung by the choir Pentarama," said Nor Adzmi, who is also the head of the Curriculum Unit at the Federal Territory Education Department.
The National Day will retain the same theme as last year's "One Heart, One Soul' (Sehati, Sejiwa). – Bernama
