Cycling challenge participant collapses and dies in Bagan Datoh

BAGAN DATOH: One of the participants in the Bagan Datoh Merdeka Mountain Bike Challenge collapsed and died while cycling near Jalan Baru Kampung Tebuk, this morning.
Hilir Perak police chief ACP Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the victim, Muhamad Zukhi Zakaria, 58, from Lorong Berembang Dua, RPA Simpang Empat, Perlis, suddenly collapsed from his bicycle while approaching the third checkpoint in the competition.
"The victim had been cycling for two hours 15 minutes and covered a distance of about 27km," he said in a statement here today.
According to Wan Hassan, family members of the victim had been contacted and informed of the incident.
It is understood that all participants of the Bagan Datoh Merdeka Mountain Bike Challenge are required to cycle for 53km. — Bernama
