KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly setting fire to a businessman's vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz, at Laman Rimbunan in Kepong near here yesterday.
Sentul district police chief ACP R. Munusamy said police were alerted to the incident about 2.30am.
The 55-year old businessman, he said, had parked his car along Jalan Laman Rimbunan 1 to open his karaoke outlet at about 6pm on Sunday.
At about 2am yesterday, he added, the businessman was informed by his employee that his car was on fire.
Munusamy said closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from a premise near the karaoke shop showed a man, who was riding a Honda Ex-5 motorcycle, had set the car ablaze.
Police arrested the suspect at his flat a few hours later with the case being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage.
