ALOR STAR: A form two student of a school in Sungai Petani has suffered brain haemorrhage after he was beaten up by three senior students yesterday.
A medical scan at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital showed blood clots on the right side of Muhammad Anas Amir's head.
The 14-year-old was then referred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) about 2am today, to undergo surgery to remove the blood clots about two hours later.
Kuala Muda police chief, ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said four students were detained to facilitate investigations into the incident.
The victim's father, Amir Ahmad, 47, said in the 10am incident yesterday, Muhammad Anas was hit and slammed against a wall after he pulled a classmate into a classroom.
He said the classmate's brother, a form three student who saw this, struck Muhammad Anas, and was joined by two other classmates.
"My son told me he pulled the classmate into the classroom after he was instructed to do so by a teacher. There might have been a misunderstanding, causing the boy's brother to hit my son," he told reporters at the HSB here.
Amir said his son, the third of five children, had only notified his mother, Suriyati Che Said, 47, about the incident at 3pm yesterday.
He said he lodged a police report about 10 last night. — Bernama
