Two-year-old girl dies after suspected abuse

KUALA TERENGGANU: Police have arrested a married couple in Paka over the death of the woman's two-year-old sister following suspected physical abuse.
The toddler died several hours after the couple took her to the Paka Health Clinic at about 3pm yesterday, said Dungun Police chief Supt Ahmad Zailani Yaacub.
He said the body had been taken to the Dungun Hospital.
Ahmad Zailani said the toddler had been living with her sister and brother-in-law in Paka. The girls' parents live in Kuala Lumpur.
It is learnt that the medical officer at the clinic noticed bruises on the body and legs of the girl and lodged a police report.
Ahmad Zailani said the police arrested the couple at the Dungun Hospital last night. — Bernama
