BUKIT MERTAJAM: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
A mechanic learnt this adage the hard way when his wife punched and kicked him at their Sungai Rambai house yesterday when her request for money to settle debts fell on deaf ears.
In the 6pm incident, the 38-year-old victim had just returned to their rented unit in the Desa Damai Flats from work when his wife asked for the money.
Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) police chief, ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said when the man replied he was short of money, she suspected he was lying and a heated argument broke out.
In the ensuing squabble, the 35-year-old woman went into a rage, punching and kicking the man on the face, leaving him with a swollen face and injuries.
"The woman attacked her husband in the presence of the couple's 17-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter.
"The son tried to stop the beating but failed," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
Nik Ros Azhan said the man sought outpatient treatment at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital here and lodged a police report.
"We have taken statements from the mechanic and son to shed light on the incident.
"The woman fled from their house with her daughter soon after the incident," he said, adding the woman was detained by the police last year for beating up her husband.
However, the man withdrew the police report against the woman and she was released.
He said the case was investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act. — Bernama
