M'sian Hindus join 'Pray for Malaysia' event in conjunction with National Day

    SHAH ALAM: Some 400 Malaysians of the Hindu faith attended the 'Pray for Malaysia' programme to usher in Malaysia's National Day celebration at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Taman Sri Muda here.

    Event coordinator, P. Punithan, said during the event, devotees lit lamps and held special prayer session for continuous peace and harmony in the country.

    "On this National Day eve, it is our hope to see the country continues to progress and to remain harmonious. Praying is one way we can contribute as citizens of the country during this Merdeka month.

    "We are organising this event for the third time since 2014," he told Bernama at the event here last night.

    Apart from taking part in special prayers, the devotees also flied the Jalur Gemilang as a symbol of freedom, diverse race and religion, as well as prosperity.

    The programme is organised by the Special Affairs Department in collaboration with the Communications and Multimedia Ministry and the Sri Maha Mariamman temple. — Bernama
