IPOH: Parts of the peninsular will roar with the sound of almost 3,000 motorbikes passing through in a show of patriotism in conjunction with the National Day celebrations.

The programme "Kembara Malaysiaku Gemilang" organised by the Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) will include riders from all over the country revving the engines of their low and high-powered motorcycles.

Kimma president Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Kader said the programme was aimed at bringing together Muslims of all levels of society in the spirit of the Independence month.

"This programme has been followed by people of all ages, but there is only one objective, which is to remember the difficulties our past leaders and fighters faced in achieving independence," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending a programme to flag off the convoy of almost 200 Perak bikers to Selangor at the Dataran Ipoh here today.

The five-day programme, which began in Perlis on Saturday, was officiated by the Tourism, Culture, Arts, Multimedia and Communications Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi. — Bernama
