SUNGAI BULOH: Barisan Nasional (BN) stands a good chance of regaining Selangor if its component party members and leaders go down to the ground more often to meet supporters and assist those in need.
"Friends of BN, go down to the ground, meet the Chinese and Indian communities like how Umno looks after the Malays. Provide them with aid and assistance. There are also a lot of Chinese and Indians who are facing hardship, not only the Malays. Help them, and help any race in need," Umno acting deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
"It's not impossible for us to wrest back Selangor under BN. I have already arranged with (state liaison chief) Tan Sri Noh Omar on what is supposed to be done," Ahmad Zahid, who is deputy prime minister, told Subang Umno delegates when opening its divisional meeting, here, today.
When met by reporters later, Noh rubbished claims by former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that the Opposition has the potential to snatch over 45 seats currently held by BN in the coming general election.
He said while Muhyiddin reserves the right to say whatever he wanted, the latter's prediction was nothing but a theory.
"That (BN might lose 45 seats), everyone can say. Even I can say that we will win a two-thirds majority, everyone can say that.
"This is politics, nothing is impossible. It's more of a theory, we must be practical. He can say whatever he wants," he said.
Muhyiddin had, on Saturday, predicted a 45-seat shift from BN to the Opposition, based on a simulation of the polls conducted by "experts" he had picked.
