National Geographic Channel launches Uncover Malaysia

THE National Geographic Channel (NGC) launched Uncover Malaysia, a campaign in conjunction with Malaysia's upcoming Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations.
The series will feature 11 on-air documentaries on Malaysian stories and among them, Operation Sumatran Rhino takes centre stage.

The clock is ticking for the critically endangered Sumatran Rhino. Their numbers are down to just three in Malaysia and conservationists are on a desperate mission to save the country's remaining Sumatran Rhinos.
Operation Sumatran Rhino documents efforts led by the Borneo Rhino Alliance (BORA), with objectives to drive public awareness for the rhino's plight.
These efforts in Malaysia are led by Datuk Dr. John Payne, Executive Director of BORA, and Dr. Zainal Zainuddin, Field Manager and Veterinarian of BORA.
Speaking at the event, Agnes Rozario, Vice President, Content Group, Astro said, "Together with our channel partner, National Geographic Channel (NGC), Astro is extremely pleased to highlight the plight of the Sumatran Rhino, and provide our support in the quest of saving them from extinction. We look forward to future collaborations with NGC in our efforts to provide the best in local, regional & international content which resonates to our customers".

Operation Sumatran Rhino is part of the larger Uncover Malaysia campaign that takes a look at different aspects of Malaysia, featuring stories of culture, culinary arts and conservation. From Terengganu's famed nasi kerabu to the age old tradition of silat.

To compliment these on-air documentaries, National Geographic is opening the doors to an exhibit that invites the public to Uncover Malaysia for themselves at Sunway Pyramid.
These exhibits consist of 12 doors that use interactive storytelling to give the public a glimpse of what each uniquely Malaysian story has to offer.
Together, the exhibits and documentaries aim to tell important stories about Malaysia that – if not told to the next generations, might perish with time.

The Uncover Malaysia exhibition opens to the public Until Sept 22 at the Main Concourse of Sunway Pyramid.

Tune into Operation Sumatran Rhino on Sept 19 on National Geographic Wild ( Astro Channel 550) at 8.40pm.

The encore in conjunction with World Rhino Day on Sept 22 will be on National Geographic Wild and National Geographic Channel (Astro Channel 553 and 573).
