More than coffee on-the-go
IN 1995, the Starbucks Frappuccino blended beverage made its debut in Starbucks stores across the United States. In 1996, just a year after its successful launch, a bottled variant lined the shelves at grocery stores. Two decades after, the Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino finally arrives on Malaysian shores.
ANYWHERE, ANYTIME
Packed in sleek-looking glass bottles, Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino coffees make life easier. Fans can just grab one or more and go do their thing with their favourite beverage in hand, enjoying their coffee in a bottle at any time and place.
“In general, the Frappuccino is intended to be a fun, enjoyable drink. The consumers of it are who we call the ‘life launchers’ - the young, millennial professionals who are just starting out and establishing their lifestyle,” said Starbucks Asia leader and vice-president of global channel development David Hanson.
“The Frappuccino is a wonderful place to start with on their coffee journey. They’re looking for great ways to express themselves and the brand has great expression. The logo and everything that goes with the Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino resonates with people walking around with their cup of coffee.”
MORE THAN A BOTTLE
When finished, the iconic glass bottle can also be re-purposed for everyday use.
“When our customers finish the drink, they are able to do some fun stuff on the bottle as well. Search for ‘frappuccino bottle art’ and you will see a lot of consumer-generated art. Some people draw on their bottle, some make it into a candy bottle or a flower vase,” shared Starbucks China and Asia Pacific CPG marketing director Ting Chiu.
While all these provide some fun frappuccino drinking moments, during and after, here is more good news to this supplementary venture by Starbucks Malaysia.
Coffee lovers can now enjoy these “original” two Frappuccino flavours:
▶ Starbucks Frappuccino Coffee – a perfect blend of Starbucks Arabica coffee with creamy milk and/or
▶ Starbucks Frappuccino Mocha – a creamy blend of Starbucks Arabica coffee with rich cocoa flavour.
“Starbucks Malaysia has always been a very innovative company. Our drive-thru’s are very good examples of people experiencing the brand out of our stores,” said Starbucks Malaysia and Brunei managing director Sydney Quays.
“To me, this is an extension of that. It provides a very holistic brand experience. You can come to our stores or you can have it at home. So that’s basically the idea around the whole bottled Frappuccino.
HAVE IT YOUR WAY
“People experience the brand in a very different way and we’ll never stop that innovation as a company,” he added. To celebrate the new initiative and its new beginnings, customers who purchase the Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino from selected supermarkets and convenience stores will receive a “buy one, free one” voucher that they can use at Starbucks Malaysia stores.
Each bottle is priced from RM11.55. Grab yours now at the upcoming roadshow between Nov 28 and Dec 6, 2016 at Aeon Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur. Shoppers will be rewarded with Starbucks merchandise with purchase.
Now with this bottled version, one can store up on their frappuccino cache and enjoy it whenever, wherever and however they like it. Keep updated with new roadshow happenings via the Starbucks Malaysia Facebook page.
FUN FRAP SUGGESTIONS
The pros from Starbucks weigh in on their favourite ways to enjoy Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino.
“I am a big fan of serving it over ice. The product is best when it’s icy cold, when it’s hot out in the summertime.” – Starbucks Asia leader and vice-president of global channel development David Hanson.
“I actually like mine very chilled while watching a good movie. I’ve done that many times before, especially when I travel. It’s available in many countries. After you’ve had a long day of meetings, you buy it and go back to the hotel to watch whatever is showing. I really enjoy it.” – Starbucks Malaysia and Brunei managing director Sydney Quays.
“An interesting way to enjoy it is to use a frozen slush cup. Put it in the fridge for eight hours, then pour the Frappuccino in, stir well and it becomes slush. It’s a fun way to enjoy it with friends.” – Starbucks China and Asia Pacific CPG marketing director Ting Chiu.
