THE first production stills of HBO Asia’s Original series Halfworlds, has been unveiled. This eight-part, hour-long dark action fantasy drama – the network’s first returnable series – is slated to air later this year, exclusively on HBO Asia’s on-air, online and on-demand platforms.

Production for the second season of Halfworlds has wrapped and the show is currently in post-production. Created by HBO Asia, the second season of Halfworlds widens the universe established in the first season, transiting from the alleys of Jakarta, to the neon light-bathed streets of Bangkok.

A tenacious researcher named Juliet (Tia Tavee) is trying to uncover the secret world of demons that live amongst mortals. Armed with research by her late father, she goes on a quest for answers. While searching for an ancient artefact of great power, her actions draw the attention of the local Thai demons known as Peesaj. It is not long before her pursuit leads her into the line of fire of the Peesaj leader Charlie (David Asavanond), the mortal peace-keeper Warin (Nicole Theriault) and a Peesaj named Fyter (Peem Jaiyen), who is sent to kill her.

The Halfbreed Barata (Arifin Putra) is on a quest of his own that requires him to enlist the help of an old friend, Kaprey (Jake Macapagal). He is not the only one on a perilous journey, as fellow Demit Tony (Reza Rahadian) makes his presence known in Bangkok to find a lost love.

Season two will feature an exciting ensemble cast of actors from Thailand, Indonesia, The Philippines and Taiwan. Reza Rahadian (Habibie & Ainun) and Arifin Putra (The Raid 2) reprise their roles as Tony and Barata. New cast members include Peem Jaiyen (Hormones 3), Tia Tavee (Asia’s Next Top Model 2), Emma Grant (The Idol Game), Myra Molloy (Thailand’s Got Talent), Nicole Theriault (Phobia 2), Jeeja Yanin (Chocolate), David Asavanond (The Last Executioner), Charlie Ruedpokanon (Only God Forgives), Jake Macapagal (Metro Manila), and Teresa Daley (Transformers: Age of Extinction), who also starred in HBO Asia’s Grace.

This second season of Halfworlds marks HBO Asia’s fifth Original production after Dead Mine (2012), Serangoon Road (2013), Grace (2014), and Halfworlds Season 1 (2015). In addition, audiences can expect other Original productions from HBO Asia later this year, namely the first two productions in an anthology of Chinese language martial arts action movies titled Master of the Drunk Fist: Beggar So and Master of the Shadowless Kick: Wong Kei-Ying. These two movies, produced in collaboration with China Movie Channel (CMC), represents HBO Asia’s first co-production in China. In 2017, The Psychic, HBO Asia's first Chinese-language series set in Taiwan, is slated to premiere.
