Massage parlour caretaker charged with human trafficking

IPOH: A caretaker of a massage parlour was charged in the Sessions Court here today with trafficking in six Thai women for sexual exploitation last month.
Chong Lim Fatt, 31, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before judge Ikmal Hishan Mohd Tajuddin.
He was charged with trafficking in the Thai women, aged between 30 and 40, at Nombor 1, Jalan Siswa, Taman Siswa, 31900, Kampar, near here, between Aug 2 and 18 this year.
The charge, under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking In Persons And Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, provides an imprisonment for up to 15 years, and is liable to fine, if found guilty.
Ikmal Hishan allowed Chong bail of RM35,000 in one surety and also ordered him to surrender his passport to the court.
The court set Sept 29 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutors Muhammad Fauzi Md Yusof, Fadhli Ab Wahab and Nurul Azriah Zaid appeared for the prosecution, while Chong was represented by lawyer Bernard Francis. — Bernama
