Give all documents pertaining to disappearance of MH370 to family members: High Court

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court today ordered all documents pertaining to the disappearance of MH370 to be provided to 76 family members of the passengers in a civil suit against Malaysian Airlines System Berhad (MAS).
High Court judge Azizul Azmi Adnan allowed an application for "general discovery of document" filed by the families in his chambers.
The plaintiff's lawyer Michael Yap said all documents relevant to the suit had to be given (by the government).
"An order of general discovery was made against the government," said Yap.
The court fixed Oct 20 for case management for parties to update on the exchange of the documents.
The next-of-kin of the passengers sought the release of 37 documents, including communications, correspondence, documents and other materials, notes, memoranda, internal documents and investigators reports in relation to MH370.
Apart from MAS and Malaysian Airlines Berhad (MAB), the family members, comprising 66 China nationals, eight Indians and two Americans, had named Director-General of Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), Royal Malaysian Air Force and the government as the defendants in the suit.
They sought for special damages, general damages, exemplary, cost bereavement and other costs.
This is the largest lawsuit in Malaysia in terms of number of passengers involved.
MH370 went missing while flying from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Beijing, China, on March 8, 2014 with 239 passengers and crew onboard.
