PAS to lose Kelantan come GE14: Zaid Ibrahim

PETALING JAYA: Former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim (pix) made a bold prediction that PAS could lose Kelantan due to its current leadership.
Taking a swipe at PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, party Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, spiritual leader Datuk Dr Haron Din and vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah, Zaid said this would happen as he opined that the people in Kelantan would go against the tide in the next general election.
"The Kelantan people had only voted for the Islamist party due to their love for the late spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and not the current leadership," he said in his blog posting, today.
Labelling the party as "useless", Zaid claimed that the people will no longer want to be taken for a ride as its leaders are incapable of resolving issues such as flooding, providing clean water supply and waste management.
"Instead they sell Islam. They demand for hudud law and aim to nab women in nice clothes. They are not interested in developing the state, so they sell timber," he said, adding that PAS by quoting "hadith and Quranic verses" alone would not be able to administer Kelantan.
The former Kota Baru MP called on supporters of PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to join Amanah instead as he felt that PAS would be more interested to be rid of members that are keen to work with other Opposition parties.
Tuan Ibrahim had called for a ceasefire among Opposition parties in July.
