PETALING JAYA: Malaysian telecommunication companies Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile together with telecommunications infrastructure company, edotco, today announced a collaboration to standardise the industry's Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements for a safer working culture across the industry.
Under this collaboration, the companies have agreed to a single common set of minimum HSE requirements for all main contractors and sub-contractors undertaking network infrastructure works at any of the telco sites.
Effective Sept 1, contractors undertaking works are required to comply and adhere to the new set of guidelines. These guidelines will enable a more systematic approach to safety, reduce incident risks and will benefit the industry as a whole in having a safer work environment. Strict action will be taken against contractors who fail to comply.
Workshops and trainings will be conducted for these contractors so they are well equipped to adhere to the new set of safety requirements.
