Storm damages 31 houses in Kuantan housing estate

KUANTAN: A storm damaged 31 houses in Taman Balok Makmur here at about 11pm yesterday, but no one was injured.
Balok Makmur Residents' Representatives Committee chairman Mohd Noor Ibrahim said various government agencies had provided aid to the affected residents.
They included the Social Welfare Department, Kuantan Municipal Council and the Fire and Rescue Service, he added.
The Indera Mahkota Umno Division contributed cash to the affected people, said its chief Datuk Mustaffa Kamal Abdul Hamid.
Some of the people were staying temporarily with relatives, neighbours and the operations room of the Umno division until their houses were repaired, he said. — Bernama
