Man fined for using handphone while driving

KUALA LUMPUR: A man with two young children was fined RM300, in default three months' jail, by the Traffic Court here today for using his handphone while driving.
Magistrate Noorul Fhaiez Mohd Nayan meted out the sentence on Muhammad Fahmi Mansor, 28, who pleaded guilty to committing the offence at 10.10am at Jalan Genting Kelang last March 3.
Muhammad Fahmi, who works as a driver, paid the fine.
The offence carries a maximum fine of RM1,000, or imprisonment for up to three months, for the first offence, and fine of not more than RM2,000, or imprisonment for up to six months, or both, if found guilty, for the second and subsequent offence.
The prosecution was conducted by Road Transport Department Assistant Enforcement Officer Azlindayanty Mohd Termizi, while Mohamad Fahmi was unrepresented. — Bernama
