Penang Gerakan claims Guan Eng refuses to reveal why BUCG removed from development project

GEORGE TOWN: The state government has been urged to disclose the truth over the removal of the Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) from Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd (CZBUCG) which is responsible for developing three paired roads and a proposed undersea tunnel.
In making the call, Penang Gerakan Youth acting chief Jason Lo claimed it was obvious that Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been refusing to tell the public what exactly happened when the state government decided to remove the company from the consortium after a crane incident which killed a Penangite last month.
He said it has been known that BUCG has been following up on the case and helping the victim's family since the incident.
He also questioned Lim's previous statement over BUCG's withdrawal and claimed it was Lim who issued a directive for CZBUCG to drop BUCG's involvement in the joint venture project.
He was speaking to reporters at Komtar yesterday after earlier handing over a document containing newspaper cuttings to the chief minister's representative, J. Patmavathy, after his request to meet Lim was turned down.
Loo said the newspaper cuttings were to remind Lim and the state government on previous statements made by them.
