KEPALA BATAS: The Education Ministry is reviewing the workload of teachers, especially in carrying out clerical duties and online data entry.
Its minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (pix) said a Coordinating Meeting on Online Data Entry System would be held on Thursday in Putrajaya to discuss the matter.
"Actually teachers under the Education Service Circular already have core responsibilities, including activities such as sports, extra curricular, academic and students' welfare, besides teaching in the classroom.
He told reporters this after the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Al-Irshad excellent awards presentation here today.
The meeting would also examine if there was a need to send such data up to the ministry level, he said.
Meanwhile Mahdzir said the ministry did not intend to add any new aspect in the existing history textbook syllabus by incorporating the Sungai Batu civilisation as part of the history subject learning modules.
Sungai Batu located 10kms from Sungai Petani, Kedah became the world's focus following the discovery of the earliest civilisation in Southeast Asia, which was formally declared as the region's oldest and earliest civilisation. — Bernama
